Why Boulder County is Great for Life and Home

We’re used to accolades here in Boulder County (after all, our new office is in Louisville, one of the most celebrated of them all!).  But we were pleasantly surprised to see Boulder performing well in this recent feature on America’s top midsize U.S. metro areas.

Boulder, (population: 300,452), is a hub for high-tech industries and the home of the University of Colorado. Plus, it’s among the 10 medium markets with the highest home values, lowest unemployment rates, and largest percentages of self-employed workers.
In addition to this recent accolade, Boulder and Boulder County have been named No. 1 Green and Clean City and The West’s Best City by Sunset, Best Places by Forbes, and can be found on lists of fit, trim, and active cities, well, everywhere.  What does this mean for you?  Let’s just say that great homes support great lifestyles…and brilliant lives make home even sweeter.  Here at Boulder Creek, we’re proud to create communities that reflect the life you want to live instead of making that life more complicated!  From low-maintenance features to green building techniques and locations that lend themselves to recreation opportunities galore, you’ll find the full package at Boulder Creek.

Survival Mode in Building

“If a company can hone systems that work today, it will enjoy strong profits in the future.  Going to survival mode will prevent a company from making key changes that would help it succeed in the long run.”

Boulder Creek Welcomes Bill Besher to Kingsbridge Townhomes

The Kingsbridge Townhomes in Longmont aren’t just notable for their location and incomparable amenities…the already-strong sales office has recently been enhanced by veteran sales team member Bill Besher.  We asked Bill for more information about his past in sales and what makes Kingsbridge the perfect intersection of life and home:

Boulder Creek Life and Home:  Bill, tell us about your background in sales.

Bill Besher:  I have been doing sales and sales training for years, both in outside and interior sales.  I found this industry about six years ago and have been selling new homes ever since.  When I helped sell out another project at Boulder Creek Life and Home, I was asked to move on to Kingsbridge…and it’s been a really wonderful project so far.

BC:  So what makes Kingsbridge unique?

BB:  First of all, our buyers are extremely diverse.  The property is a great fit for anyone from a first-time buyer to those who are ready to simplify their lives and be near some great amenities.
BC:  What’s most exciting about the Kingsbridge Townhomes to visitors?

BB:  People get really thrilled about the green building techniques Boulder Creek uses to increase efficiency and reduce waste.  They also get excited about the quality of the homes, especially compared to other new construction in the area.  Their choices in West Longmont are often limited to older, less efficient homes with no opportunities for personalization.  We offer a great alternative, with proximity to Boulder and everything Longmont has to offer.

BC:  Speaking of the area, what amenities are available nearby?

BB:  Kingsbridge Townhomes are located in a quiet area that’s still within a mile of shopping and restaurants.  Even better, there are some amazing recreational opportunities right nearby.  Trails, hiking, tourist activities, skiing…it’s all within reach.

BC:  What’s your favorite feature of the Kingsbridge Townhomes?

BB:  I love the garage storage…what can I say, I’m always looking for a place to store my bike.  In addition, I think that the courtyard concept of the Kingsbridge townhomes has incredible curb appeal.  Think downtown Keystone…a sort of resort style feel with really attractive stonework and columns.

BC:  Do you have a favorite floorplan?

BB:  They all are unique, but I’d say that the Milan is a favorite.  It’s perfect for a family looking to simplify….lots of storage, natural light and a great open feel.

BC:  What do you want the world to know about Kingsbridge Townhomes?

BB:  That’s easy…that they’re not your typical townhome.  I’d encourage those who are interested in the homes to come inside and take a look at the single-family living that’s available in these high-efficiency townhomes.  I hear it all time…”Wow, I didn’t expect all this in here.”

BC:  Any final words on Boulder Creek Life and Home or the Kingsbridge Townhomes?

BC:  Sure.  I truly believe that Boulder Creek Life and Home is building in a fashion that most other builders have abandoned.  That’s what separates us and the Kingsbridge Townhomes from the pack.

The Fourmile Fire has left devastation in its wake…and we’re glad to see local businesses and organizations pull together in the spirit of life and home to help victims.  This just came in from the Boulder Area Realtors Association:

BARA Members,

I felt it was important for you to know the actions your association is taking to assist the many families, including fellow REALTORS®, who are victims of the Fourmile Fire.

Today, we requested and have been granted $25,000 from the Colorado Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF).  BARA members have contributed to CARHOF significantly over the last 20 years and we are grateful for the support CARHOF and our state association is lending our community at this most distressing time.

We are partnering with Elevations Credit Union’s Foundation, which will match publically donated funds up to $10,000.  Dennis Paul of Elevations Credit Union is an affiliate member of our association who made this partnership possible.

In addition, BARA has posted ways in which you may further provide relief on our Face Book page and on our web site – www.BARAonLine.com .  Please give as you can.

Mike Moger, President

Boulder Area REALTOR® Association

Kudos to BARA and to everyone who’s been so supportive after the fire.

It’s Great to be Green

Here’s a statistic guaranteed to perk your ears up:  green building now constitutes nearly 1/3 of new construction in the United States.*

Take a moment to appreciate what that means…to let it really sink in.  33% of new construction built with sustainability in mind.  33% of new construction built with efficient, money-saving components.

Of course, we could be biased. After all, green building techniques are just part of what Boulder Creek Life and Home does.  They’re as critical to our worldview as quality and access to a better life.

People are shocked that we’re able to use earth-friendly building techniques without sacrificing price, quality, or location…but we’re living proof that green can and does work for residential building. For us, it’s just as much about the results as the techniques…

  • lower energy bills
  • more efficient heating and cooling systems
  • improved indoor air quality
  • reduced waste
  • contributions to community sustainability and development

It’s great to see green spreading over our industry and others…great to know that it’s possible for your home to not just house your precious family and your hopes and dreams, but to make a difference as well.

An Unexpected Reason To Buy New

We’ve said it before…there are many great reasons to buy a new home instead of purchasing a used one.  And we’re glad to note that U.S. News and World Report agrees.  In fact, they point out a reason to buy new that, given our commitment to environmentally friendly building practices and great design, really hits home — buying new means buying greener.

Building codes have mandated increasingly higher energy efficiency standards since they began to address the issue in the late 1970s, says Kevin Morrow, senior program manager for the National Association of Home Builders’ green building programs. “The most recent International Energy Conservation Code came out in 2009 [and] required roughly 17 percent more efficiency than the codes of three years prior,” he says. “So using that as sort of a gauge to how newer homes should perform from an efficiency standpoint compared to older homes, it’s pretty clear that just as homes meet code, they are going to be more efficient.”

Newly constructed homes use energy more efficiently in two ways, Morrow says. First, they tend to have a tighter-sealed building envelope that helps prevent conditioned air—cool air in the summer, warm air in the winter—from escaping. Features that create this envelope include higher-efficiency insulation, doors, and windows. “Gone are the days of the single pane window … now I think you are starting to see triple- and quadruple-paned windows,” Morrow says. “These are windows that are designed to really minimize the transfer of heat either from warm to cold or vice versa, and they of course will help the building envelope.”

In addition, the article notes that newer appliances are more energy-efficient and Earth-friendly.  And luckily, buying green doesn’t mean scrimping on things like storage, custom finishes, stunning design, or the exemplary lifestyle that comes with great location.  Find out more about what we mean…drop by one of our homesites today!  Click here to learn more about Boulder Creek’s communities.

Boulder Creek In The News!

A new office in Louisville and not one, but two national press mentions…it’s been an action-packed week for Boulder Creek Life + Home!

The Boulder County Business Report had this to say about our impending office move:

Boulder Creek Builders will relocate its headquarters from Boulder to Louisville in an effort to accommodate its recent growth and expansion.

Boulder Creek Builders purchased a 2,880-square-foot office building at 841 Front St. in historic downtown Louisville on June 23 for $388,000 to secure more space for its employees and day-to-day operations.

“We were looking for an opportunity to own a building in a location that reflects our culture and enhances our daily work life,” said David Sinkey, principal of Boulder Creek. “We looked at some very nice space throughout Boulder County but decided the small-town feel of Louisville was perfect for us. We look forward to enjoying the Louisville Downtown Street Faire and all of the other community related events that take place there.”

Boulder Creek has begun renovations on the building, which are scheduled to take around 60 days to complete. Once completed, the building will have an entirely new look and feel with improvements to the exterior facade. The company plans to make the move into the new space in late August at which time it will host an open house for friends, clients and neighbors.

Surety Realty Inc. listed the building, and Todd Walsh of The Colorado Group brokered the deal.

News Flash – Boulder Creek Community Experiences Unprecedented Sales Success

ERIE VILLAGE EXPERIENCES UNPRECEDENTED SALES SUCCESS THANKS TO ITS ACTIVE, LOW-MAINTENANCE LIFESTYLE
Boulder Creek Community Combines Green Building Techniques with Quality Design

(Boulder, CO) – Despite a near stagnant real estate market for most front range builders, green home builder Boulder Creek Life & Home www.livebouldercreek.com continues to beat the odds, growing its business last year by adding two new communities, several new employees and making strong sales within their current inventory. Erie Village specifically, one of their five communities, has experienced unprecedented success recently with a strong second half of 2009 and blazing start to 2010. Boulder Creek started in June ’09 with seven inventory homes and by end of year they had only one remaining, which has since been sold. Erie Village has continued to be successful in 2010, selling another eight homes since the start of the year for a total of 43 homes sold within the community.

“Erie Village has remained viable in the current economy because we appeal strongly to the baby boomer market and the discerning buyer who recognizes quality design,” said David Sinkey, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We offer a carefree, low maintenance lifestyle, perfect of the intrepid traveler or on-the-go grandparent looking for a lock-and-leave lifestyle.”

The Cottages at Erie Village are colorful, low-maintenance patio homes, perfect for those interested in the convenient yet active lifestyle found in Colorado. Located in Erie, Colorado, Erie Village is a unique community that emphasizes green building techniques and a strong lifestyle offering. Hiking and bike trails abound. Local shops and quaint restaurants are a mere one mile south. The Erie Community Center offers water sports, fitness classes, a climbing wall, park concerts and special events. Plus, the community is just an hour from fresh powder at Winter Park Ski Resort. Homeowners at Erie Village don’t have to rake leaves, clean the gutters, shovel snow or worry about seasonal maintenance – ever. Owners can take a trip for the weekend or for several weeks and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with low maintenance living.

“You can just close the door and leave,” says one resident, who says she was attracted to Erie Village for its low traffic, location and housing options. “You don’t just see a bunch of beige houses. And we can hear coyotes from our porch at night; it’s so quiet.”

Homeowners at Erie Village report that the sustainable construction of their new homes was important to them in choosing their new neighborhood. “There’s a real broad selection of Built Green enhancements and finishes to choose from nowadays,” says one resident. “This is an efficient house, easy to heat and cool.”

“Our final offering includes four homesites available that offer impeccable views and unmatched lifestyle,” said Paul Gortzig. “We anticipate selling out by May of this year due to the high demand and unmatched quality and price of this offering.”
