The 12 Days of Boulder Creek

We’ll admit it…even though the weather has been warm, we can’t help but get into the holiday spirit!  As the year winds to its conclusion and we prepare to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s, we can’t help but reflect on the year that’s been.

Without further ado, here are 12 reasons we’re grateful this year:

  1. This year we were grateful to contribute to a handful of well-deserving local charities, including Make a Wish, EFAA, Byrne Urban Scholars, The Cancer League of Colorado, Home Builders Foundation of Metro Denver, and local food banks.
  2. We’re in great company, with membership in the Erie, Boulder, Superior and Louisville Chambers as well as the Colorado Home Builders Association and National Home Builders Association.
  3. We were proud to continue with our We ♥ Realtors initiative and to sponsor the Boulder County Real Estate Expo and other informative events to help realtors build their businesses and sell new homes.
  4. We were able to transition to a new headquarters in downtown Louisville, purchasing and renovating the building we now occupy.
  5. We were privileged to meet homeowners who value a lifestyle that’s second to none!  Nothing compares to seeing dreams turn into real homes built with green savvy and serving as the cornerstone of Colorado communities.
  6. Speaking of Colorado communities, we had the privilege of launching neighborhoods at Kingsbridge Townhomes in South Longmont, taking on a select offering at Creekside, stepping up our involvement at Shadow Grass Park, and planning for new developments that bear Boulder Creek’s signature lifestyle touch.
  7. We’ll admit…we love community recognition, from national news coverage of Boulder Creek’s distinctive communities to a 40 under 40 award for principal David Sinkey.
  8. Our local partnerships and relationships make us grateful.  We couldn’t offer our unique mix of life and home without being firmly rooted in the community.
  9. Our exemplary staff is reason enough to be grateful!  With their help, we run smoothly and give homebuyers the exceptional homebuying experience they expect and deserve.
  10. Don’t forget about fun…we’re grateful for our participation in Colorado Music Festival and Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts in 2010!
  11. We’re grateful for growing awareness of the green building techniques that are an integral part of our philosophy and our business.
  12. Finally, we’re grateful for Colorado…where life comes first and home is second to none…where we are privileged to serve an extraordinary community.

Happy New Year!

A Ribbon-Cutting, and Gratitude

This Thanksgiving, Boulder Creek Life and Home has a lot to be thankful for.  This was highlighted last week at a ribbon-cutting sponsored by the Louisville Chamber of Commerce and celebrating our new office space in beautiful downtown Louisville.  Thank you to all who attended the ribbon-cutting and our open house!  What a wonderful welcome to a community that already feels like home.

As a company that believes in life and home, we know just how fortunate we are to be able to have a business home in a place that truly represents how we want to live.  As we develop new design concepts, acquire new developments, discover new ways to build green, and more deeply explore our commitment to helping homebuyers find homes that match their unique style and lifestyles, we know we’re in good company.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours — we are truly grateful for your support.

Let the Skating Begin!

At our new post on Front Street in Old Town Louisville, we’ve seen the bustle. Now it’s almost time…WinterSkate will reopen on November 11!

Boasting old-fashioned ice skating, carriage rides, and traditional holiday music, WinterSkate is all about gathering family and friends, wobbling around on skates, and savoring the season.  We’re thrilled to celebrate with the community in our new home (and even though the weather has held up nicely this fall, we know it will be a comfort to have fun winter activities for the family once the air gets nippy).

Why not join the fun?  Click here to learn more about WinterSkate, and we’ll see you on the rink!

Our Contribution to World Green Building Week

Today marks the last weekday of the first-ever World Green Building Week, a week celebrating the potential and promise of green building in all its glory. So it was more than appropriate that we got word recently that 84% of all waste generated on a home at Blue Vista was recycled.

Why does this statistic matter? Because the more builders can do to keep the environment in mind, the better.

Traditional buildings consume a whopping 40% of the nation’s energy, create nearly 40% of the country’s carbon emissions, and constitute 40% of the waste stream of the entire United States combined every year. In contrast, green buildings can help reduce that impact while delivering homes that are healthy to live in, valuable to invest in, and great for the Earth at large.

Green homes make dollars and sense, and we’re proud to add “green” to our list of the invaluable features that make Boulder Creek communities the perfect mix of life and home. Happy World Green Building Week!

Boulder Area Realtors Help Boulder Area Fire Victims…and You Can, Too.

The Fourmile Fire has left devastation in its wake…and we’re glad to see local businesses and organizations pull together in the spirit of life and home to help victims.  This just came in from the Boulder Area Realtors Association:

BARA Members,

I felt it was important for you to know the actions your association is taking to assist the many families, including fellow REALTORS®, who are victims of the Fourmile Fire.

Today, we requested and have been granted $25,000 from the Colorado Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF).  BARA members have contributed to CARHOF significantly over the last 20 years and we are grateful for the support CARHOF and our state association is lending our community at this most distressing time.

We are partnering with Elevations Credit Union’s Foundation, which will match publically donated funds up to $10,000.  Dennis Paul of Elevations Credit Union is an affiliate member of our association who made this partnership possible.

In addition, BARA has posted ways in which you may further provide relief on our Face Book page and on our web site – www.BARAonLine.com .  Please give as you can.

Mike Moger, President

Boulder Area REALTOR® Association

Kudos to BARA and to everyone who’s been so supportive after the fire.

It’s Great to be Green

Here’s a statistic guaranteed to perk your ears up:  green building now constitutes nearly 1/3 of new construction in the United States.*

Take a moment to appreciate what that means…to let it really sink in.  33% of new construction built with sustainability in mind.  33% of new construction built with efficient, money-saving components.

Of course, we could be biased. After all, green building techniques are just part of what Boulder Creek Life and Home does.  They’re as critical to our worldview as quality and access to a better life.

People are shocked that we’re able to use earth-friendly building techniques without sacrificing price, quality, or location…but we’re living proof that green can and does work for residential building. For us, it’s just as much about the results as the techniques…

  • lower energy bills
  • more efficient heating and cooling systems
  • improved indoor air quality
  • reduced waste
  • contributions to community sustainability and development

It’s great to see green spreading over our industry and others…great to know that it’s possible for your home to not just house your precious family and your hopes and dreams, but to make a difference as well.

A New Home

Every day, we help homebuyers select, customize, and transition into homes that are perfectly sized, sustainably constructed, and located at the intersection of the best of life and home.  And now it’s our chance…this week we completed our move into our new office building in the heart of downtown Louisville, Colorado.  Though our Boulder digs were perfect for years, we’re thrilled to open a new chapter in a small town that’s on the move.

We’ll have pictures of the new space as we settle in, but for now rest assured that we’re getting back to the business we do best…creating homes to hang a dream on.  Learn more at our website, or get in touch at our new address:

What a great reminder of the hopes and dreams of our customers…and the many cardboard boxes they pack them in!

Boulder Creek In The News!

A new office in Louisville and not one, but two national press mentions…it’s been an action-packed week for Boulder Creek Life + Home!

The Boulder County Business Report had this to say about our impending office move:

Boulder Creek Builders will relocate its headquarters from Boulder to Louisville in an effort to accommodate its recent growth and expansion.

Boulder Creek Builders purchased a 2,880-square-foot office building at 841 Front St. in historic downtown Louisville on June 23 for $388,000 to secure more space for its employees and day-to-day operations.

“We were looking for an opportunity to own a building in a location that reflects our culture and enhances our daily work life,” said David Sinkey, principal of Boulder Creek. “We looked at some very nice space throughout Boulder County but decided the small-town feel of Louisville was perfect for us. We look forward to enjoying the Louisville Downtown Street Faire and all of the other community related events that take place there.”

Boulder Creek has begun renovations on the building, which are scheduled to take around 60 days to complete. Once completed, the building will have an entirely new look and feel with improvements to the exterior facade. The company plans to make the move into the new space in late August at which time it will host an open house for friends, clients and neighbors.

Surety Realty Inc. listed the building, and Todd Walsh of The Colorado Group brokered the deal.

What Does Low-Maintenance Mean?

Here at Boulder Creek Life + Home, we talk a lot about “low-maintenance living.”  But what does that really mean?

  • It means more time to live, work, and play. So get out there and hike, bike, run, and indulge in all the recreation our communities have to offer!  At your Boulder Creek home, you’ll have plenty of time to devote to the things that matter.
