This week’s warm days and blue skies were a welcome invitation to get out and take a hike or get on the bike and go visiting friends. Outside chores? If you live at The Cottages at Erie Village, you didn’t even give them a moment’s thought.
Home owners at The Cottages don’t have to rake leaves, clean the gutters, shovel snow or worry about seasonal maintenance – ever. Take a trip for the weekend or for several weeks and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with low maintenance living.
“You can just close the door and leave,” says one resident, who says she was attracted to Erie Village for its low traffic, location and housing options. “You don’t just see a bunch of beige houses,” she says. “And we can hear coyotes from our
porch at night; it’s so quiet.”
The Cottages at Erie Village has the feeling of a classic neighborhood. Mature trees and picket fences line a street that looks like a row of Victorian and Craftsman homes with welcoming front porches and set-back garages. Parks and extensive hiking trails provide plenty of places to relax and exercise.
Each home features a private enclosed patio, large enough to have a small garden and accommodate a patio table and chairs, perfect for entertaining. Many of the homes back to a community greenbelt. Although the neighborhood is only minutes from major highways, residents don’t have to hear the din of busy traffic throughout the day.
Homeowners at Erie Village report that the sustainable construction of their new homes was important to them in choosing their new neighborhood. “There’s a real broad selection of Built Green enhancements and finishes to choose from nowadays,” says one resident. “This is an efficient house, easy to heat and cool.”
Homes backing the community park are ready for immediate move-in
If you’ve been meaning to visit Erie Villages, now is definitely the time. “Many of our best homes and locations are available now for those looking to move soon,” says Janelle Moore, community sales manager.
A two bedroom, two bath Newport with hardwood floors, granite tile countertops and upgraded carpet backs to the community park and is ready for immediate delivery, priced at $242,950. Two more Newport models, also backing to the park, are ready for the new owners to pick the finishes. The three-bedroom, three-bath Nantucket, the largest and most popular ranch plan, is available in several options.
One home, featuring birch hardwood floors, granite tile countertops, alder cabinets in the kitchen and custom twotone paint, is ready for immediate move-in. Backing onto the community park, this home is priced at $284,550.
Two more Nantucket models are scheduled for February and March completion, including the final detached home that will be available. Located on a premier lot, this home features a fully finished lower level, beautiful maple cabinets, a fireplace with tile surround in the Great Room, and twotone paint throughout. Buyers can still choose the interior finishes for this signature home at The Cottages.
“As a special thank you gift, all buyers will receive their first year of HOA dues completely paid, plus an annual family pass to the Erie Community Center,” Janelle Moore says. “This is a great time to take a look at The Cottages at Erie Village.”

“The Nantucket’s floor plan is designed for comfortable living. The finished basement is like an ‘extra getaway.’ This home provides it all, from a great room to a private area that is perfect for an office, or just curling up with a book.”
“It’s quiet, but there’s a nice mix of neighbors. My home is easy to care for, and with the bedroom and family room in the finished basement, it’s like having two separate homes. I went on a cruise recently, and really liked knowing that everything would be taken care of while I was gone.”
Home owners at The Cottages don’t have to rake leaves, clean the gutters, shovel snow or worry about winterizing their homes. Take a trip for the weekend or for several weeks and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with lowmaintenance living.
“You can just close the door and leave,” says Virginia’s neighbor, Ann Leggett, who says she was attracted to Erie Village for its low traffic, location and floorplan options. “You don’t just see a bunch of beige houses,” she says. “And we can hear coyotes from our porch at night; it’s so quiet.”

New View Lots and a new Model Home
New home sites have just been released at The Cottages at Erie Village. Each new lot features mountain views or directly adjoins a community pocket park, bringing the feeling of open space right to your door. Now is a great time to explore the newest design, the Nantucket ranch model.
“The Nantucket ranch plan adds even more circulation and finish options,” says David Sinkey, marketing director for Boulder Creek Life and Home. “As with all Cottage homes, the lower level is completely finished, and it includes an additional bedroom, full bath and a rec room. We think the Nantucket offers great features, design and a manageable size that many single homeowners find very appealing.”

You’ve seen the progress and heard the news about Calmante, the new maintenance-free community of luxury townhomes in Superior.
With high-end architecture, personally customized detailing and an exclusive Front Range location, Calmante’s “Limited Edition Living” has a lot of people talking. Now it’s time to see this new community for yourself.
“We’re seeing an incredible amount of interest in these gorgeous homes,” says Stephanie Lyon, Calmante sales manager, “and now is a perfect time to come out for a personal ‘hard hat’ tour. We love showing people the upscale features and tremendous value that you just cannot find anywhere else in this area.”
Only minutes from Boulder and highway 36, Calmante is within easy reach of shopping, the Pearl Street Mall, Interlocken, multiple golf courses and the bright lights of Denver. Head out the other direction and you’ll find hiking and biking trails with miles of peaceful scenery. It’s a lifestyle that appeals to young professionals, active adults and single-parent families who are looking for low-maintenance living in an upscale setting.
“We’ve put a lot of focus and energy into making sure everything is first class at Calmante,” says Rick Rippberger, who is leading the development of the community. “The HOA manages everything for low maintenance living; it’s perfect for those who travel frequently; they like to know that they can take off and not have to worry about anything.”
Volume spaces with incredible light and views, private patios and courtyards, walkout basements and main floor master suites are trademarks of each Calmante home. Buyers enjoy working with Calmante’s design center and professional interior designers to make their home a genuine expression of their taste and personality.
Four different home plans, plus a high degree of personalization unprecedented in a townhome community, ensure your home will be everything you intended.
The two-story Cascade offers a grand sense of scale and a generous layout. With a main floor master suite and a private deck, the Cascade’s upper level can be configured with two bedrooms, two baths and a loft, or with a junior master suite with five-piece bath and walkin closet plus an additional third bedroom with full bath. Both options include a spacious great room with kitchen and dining areas that open to a private courtyard. “The Cascade ‘lives’ like a single-family home,” says community sales manager Stacey Buck.
Buyers looking for a little less floor space without sacrificing the openness of two-story living will find a lot to like in The Brook, a three-bedroom, three-and-a-halfbath plan that includes an elevator for easy access to the upper level master retreat, second bedroom with full bath and a laundry room. A private courtyard and gallery entry on the main level lead to an open kitchen, formal dining room and great room with adjoining study.
The Boulder Falls ranch floor plan matches convenience with craftsmanship to create a winning design featuring a main level master with private deck or patio, five-piece bath and generous closet space. A home office, laundry room, cook’s kitchen with center island and walk-in pantry, and formal dining room with wet bar and private courtyard complete the main floor.
All homes at Calmante include two-car garages with custom cedar doors, gas fireplaces, slab granite kitchen counters and backsplashes, Delta hardware in the kitchen and baths, and separate showers with glass block and five-piece master bath with jetted tub in the master baths. Boulder Creek Life and Home builds these homes to Built Green standards, with 90-percent efficient furnaces, low-E windows and programmable thermostats.

“Our home time is really valuable to us. We used to spend all our time working on our house. In a low-maintenance community like The Heritage, we get to relax and enjoy the swimming pool and golf course. It’s like being on vacation.”

“The mountain views are beautiful here. We’ve never had a view like this. We watch the sunset every night.” That’s what residents of The Heritage at Vista Ridge say about their community.
Situated on a ridge with sweeping mountain views and quick access to Boulder, Longmont and Denver, The Heritage at Vista Ridge offers quality patio homes and a low-maintenance lifestyle in a welcoming neighborhood with ample amenities. It’s the kind of place you hope to find when it’s time to downsize or simplify your lifestyle.
Downsizing was the plan when Lori and Brian Wheat chose their new home here. The couple runs a thriving nursery and floral business and work is a big part of their lives. “Our home time is really valuable to us. We used to spend all our time working on our house. In a low-maintenance community like The Heritage, we get to relax and enjoy the swimming pool and golf course. It’s like being on vacation,” Lori Wheat says.
Low maintenance means no painting, no shoveling snow, no mowing or landscaping chores. No wonder so many homeowners are enjoying the freedom of lock-and-leave living
When it came to choosing their home, the Wheats were looking for good design and quality features. They liked the open floor plan, and especially liked what came in it. “What caught our eye were all the wonderful upgrades and finishes we could choose,” Lori Wheat says. “They are just as nice as what we had in our custom home. Slab granite counters, a glass backsplash – nice materials. We wanted to downsize, not downgrade. This still felt a lot like a custom home.”
Heritage patio homes are designed for comfortably elegant main-floor living. A kitchen, great room, study, dining room (per plan), master suite and laundry room are on the first floor, while the finished lower level contains a recreation room, bedrooms, a storage area and a bathroom. A community clubhouse, miles of hiking and biking trails and two swimming pools give residents plenty of options for recreation and socializing.
The Heritage at Vista Ridge is being developed by Boulder Creek Life and Home, a leading home builder in Boulder County since 1975, which has built its reputation on creating active lifestyle communities that let us live the way we’ve always intended. Exciting architecture, energy efficient construction and low-maintenance living are all
hallmarks of Boulder Creek Life and Home neighborhoods.
“We are down to the last few available home sites,” says Dave Hildebrand, community sales manager at The Heritage, “including the last two homes right on the golf course, with some of the best views. We have a Cedaredge with nice upgrades that is available right now for move-in, at $382,900. Another Cedaredge will be ready for
October delivery.”
There’s no better time to visit The Heritage at Vista Ridge

Known as Empty Nesters, Downsizers or Boomers, these are couples and professional singles with a changing lifestyle. The kids are in college, retirement may be in sight, and there’s more time to enjoy the pleasures of carefree, active living.
For many, this is also the time to right-size their living spaces. But buyers looking for high-end architecture, upscale finishes and an exclusive Front Range location have had few options. Until now, that is.
Calmante, a new maintenance-free community of 75 luxury townhomes, is bringing its unique brand of “Limited Edition Living” to Superior. No commentsNABA recognizes Boulder Creek Life and Home with Development of the Year Award
We’re all about homes. But we’re more about living.
By L.L. Charles

From the unprecedented increase in prices at the gas pump to hefty heating bills last winter, we’re all getting the message: energy costs are on the rise and they aren’t coming back down any time soon.
“Just last month, the National Association of Home Builders recognized the Blue Vista community with a national Development of the Year Award.”
It’s a tough reality, forcing most of us to rethink the way we live today, from how we get to work to the choices we make when we shop. But while we’re figuring this out, forward-thinking companies are reinventing the ways we will live tomorrow.
Boulder Creek Life and Home, a home builder with roots in Boulder County since 1975, has built its reputation on creating active lifestyle communities that let us live the way we’ve always intended. Exciting architecture, energy-efficient construction and low-maintenance living are all hallmarks of a Boulder Creek Life and Home neighborhood. Most notably, it has brought these features to homes at every price point, for first-time buyers and upscale downsizers alike.
“The point we’re making in each of our communities is, you can build a well-designed, energy-efficient home without having to add 15 or 20 percent to the cost,” says David Sinkey, director of marketing for Boulder Creek Life and Home. “It’s not about living with less, it’s about living better.”
Enthusiastic home buyers and high owner satisfaction are good ways to measure success, of course. Another is what the home building industry itself says about a builder. Score another point for Boulder Life and Home: just last month, the National Association of Home Builders recognized the Blue Vista community with a national Development of the Year Award. The unique mix of duplexes, townhomes, condos and single family homes at Blue Vista are all constructed to “Built Green” standards without sacrificing the features and amenities usually found in more
exclusive neighborhoods
Summer Youngs, sales manager at Blue Vista, says that receiving the award was an exciting endorsement of the growing Longmont community. “Most of the homes we’re building now are pre-sold; there’s such a high level of interest. We have buyers who are even paying cash for their home – they could afford bigger, more expensive homes, but they’re choosing the efficiency of Blue Vista.”
“The real spirit of the NAHB award has to do with the total impact of what we are doing,” adds David Sinkey. “There are ‘greener’ homes than the ones at Blue Vista, but these tend to be built with costly systems that are still more experimental when it comes to production home building. You can build a home completely off the grid using
solar, geothermal or photovoltaic technologies, but this isn’t viable yet for the average home, and doesn’t have a large impact overall. What we do is utilize proven and practical green building techniques and materials, bringing them into the mainstream to create truly affordable homes. This allows us to do more with each home, and to do more of them. We encourage anyone considering buying a new home to visit any of our communities to see this for yourself. We think you’ll like what you see.”

No commentsSingle-family homes just added at Blue Vista in Longmont
By L.L. Charles
May 19-11, 2008

With its innovative mix of townhomes, row homes and duplexes, Blue Vista in Longmont has already been discovered by a diverse community of residents, including young families, single professionals and active seniors. Front porches, yards with picket fences and tree-lined streets provide a “classic” neighborhood ambiance, highlighted by Victorian, Colonial and Four-Square homes in a pleasing palette of rust reds, sage greens and soft yellows. Now, home buyers have even more reasons to see Blue Vista, with the addition of two new exciting designs.
Five single-family homes have just been released for pre-sale. Two of these floor plans, which range from approximately 1,500 to 3,000 square feet, feature main level master bedrooms. Summer Youngs, community sales manager for Blue Vista, says that there has been a strong demand for home designs that arrange the main living spaces on the ground floor, with secondary spaces on upper and lower levels. Each single-family home fronts to a
pocket park and includes an attached two-car garage and a private, fenced yard.
Four-plex condo flats have also just been added to Blue Vista’s blended collection of homes. “The condo flats also include lots of main-level living options,” Youngs says. The Larkspur, with 1,602 square feet, has a main floor master bedroom and bath, plus living area, kitchen and dining area. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms, an
additional bathroom and generous storage space.
The Lupine, at 946 square feet, is a great option for those requiring less space but still wanting the benefits of a well-designed and constructed home. The single-level plan includes two bedrooms, one bath, a kitchen and living and
dining areas. Some condo flats plans include an upper level porch, perfect for enjoying the many mountain views.
Single-family homes start in the mid-200s and condo flats homes start at $149,900. Buyers who qualify through the Community Land Trust program can receive additional pricing incentives. “We have sold 30 homes in our first year,” Youngs reports. “From listening to what our home buyers are telling us, we know that these new floor plans
will be very popular. With just five single-family homes in the current release, we expect them to sell quickly.”
It’s All Good, It’s All Green
All homes at Blue Vista are designated “Built Green” and qualify as Energy Star homes. Low-E glazed windows and blown-in cellulose insulation make your home easy to heat and a breeze to cool. Two-by-six framing is standard instead of the two-by-fours you’ll find elsewhere, creating sturdier, deeper walls that hold more insulation and are
more soundproof.
The inside environment is protected by low-VOC paints and finishes. Carpets are made of recycled materials, and are tacked down rather than glued, to help protect the quality of the air you breathe. All lighting fixtures use compact fluorescents bulbs and Energy Star appliances, chosen for their superior efficiency.
Each home is visited several times during construction by experts from EnergyLogic, an independent third-party company, to ensure that construction meets both Energy Star and Built Green standards.
“Every Blue Vista home comes with a comprehensive warranty,” says Summer Youngs. “You can buy with confidence at Blue Vista.”

A friendly neighborhood with environmentally friendly homes

When Charles and Patricia Buhring decided to downsize from their large ranch-style home in Gunbarrel, they elected to take their time and find the perfect new home.
“It took us two-and-a-half years, looking at houses from Castle Rock to Fort Collins, before we decided on The Cottages at Erie Village,” Patricia says. “The design of the neighborhood and the construction of the homes were very appealing to us. It’s a nice blended neighborhood.”
The Buhrings have lived in the new home community for just over a year. “We’d always liked Erie Village’s colorful Victorians, and the interesting architectural styles,” Patricia recalls. “The homes are different from each other, not exactly the same. And we like the small-town feel of Erie. It is growing, but there is still the feeling of
community here.”
“It’s a very friendly neighborhood. We have young people and retired people, so it’s a nice mix. Everyone gets along and watches out for each other. If someone’s on vacation, there’s always someone to be sure the paper gets picked up.” The parks and nearby amenities are important to the Buhrings as well. “When our grandson visits he loves to go to the parks and play on the swings. There are lots of places to go for walks and friendly people to say ‘Hi’ to. The Erie community center is about a mile away – we can work out or swim, and it’s also convenient to have the library so close.”
The Buhrings chose the two-story Acadia model. “We liked the very open floor plan of the Acadia, particularly
the way the rooms are laid out on the second floor. It’s a three-bedroom plan, so we have an office, a guestroom and
a bedroom. The rooms are good sized, too. This fit our plans and what we were looking for.”
Patricia Burhring says that the sustainable construction of their new home was important, too. “I drive a Hybrid
car, and the Built Green designation was a very big part of our home choice. There’s a real broad selection of Built
Green options and finishes to choose from nowadays. We all have to look at ways to live well, while managing our impact on the environment. It’s an efficient house, easy to heat and cool. We have great windows, so we get a lot of light, too.”
A “lock-and-leave” lifestyle
John Martin, sales associate for The Cottages at Erie Village, says that home owners love the “lock-and-leave” lifestyle, which means never having to mow a lawn, shovel snow or paint a fence. It’s a great fit for many “downsizers” who travel often or just want the freedom to enjoy a carefree lifestyle.
Private enclosed patios, large enough to have a small garden and still accommodate a patio table and chairs, are perfect for entertaining. Many of the homes back to a community greenbelt. And although the neighborhood is only minutes from major highways, residents don’t have to hear the din of busy traffic throughout the day, Martin says.
Special incentive for buyers
What better way to drive to your new home in Erie Village than in your new Toyota Prius Hybrid? For a limited time, buyers of select models at The Cottages at Erie Village will also receive a free, two-year lease on a 2008 Prius – perfect for getting out and enjoying the freedom of your new turnkey, lock-and-leave lifestyle.

Maintenance-free living with world-class views

Situated on a ridge with sweeping mountain views and quick access to Boulder, Longmont and Denver, The Heritage at Vista Ridge offers quality patio homes and a low maintenance lifestyle in a welcoming community with ample amenities. It’s the kind of place you hope to find when it’s time to downsize or simplify your lifestyle.
Many home developments claim to deliver the perfect lifestyle package, but for the real story, nothing beats what the homeowners themselves will tell you.
Russ and Ann Buckley, who describe themselves as “casual, retired empty nesters,” have lived at The Heritage for one year, choosing the community for its location and turn-key, no-maintenance lifestyle. “We’re just 20 minutes from Boulder or Denver. It’s easy to get to the mountains, shopping and cultural events. With only 68 homes at The
Heritage, the HOA is small and personal,” Russ says. “I even liked it enough to be on the Board of Directors.”
After looking at three different model homes at The Heritage, the Buckleys chose the Somerset design, citing the flow of the home’s layout. “Actually, we liked all three of the homes we looked at,” Ann recalls, “but the Somerset matched our needs the best.”
“There are two pools here, and lots of bike trails. It’s great for when our grandchildren come to visit,” Ann says.
“There’s a fairly good variety of ages here, from families to retired couples. We like the friendly neighbors and enjoy getting together for dinners at the clubhouse.”
Gary and Janice Teegarden could have had their pick of many new communities. “When we decided to downsize, we actually spent the better part of three years looking for our new home,” says Gary. “The Heritage at Vista Ridge clearly offered the best location and the best value, from the views to the floor plan to the quality of construction. We
wanted a home with the living spaces and master bedroom on the main level, but we didn’t have to give up a second bedroom and bathroom.”
“We liked the two-sided fireplace set into a long wall, where we’ve also installed a media center,” Janice adds.
The Teegardens, who moved into their new home in August, appreciate the welcoming neighborhood and its social
activities. “We’ve gotten to know each other pretty quickly; these are warm, welcoming people,” Janice says. Their former residence, Gary notes, was in a community with hundreds of homes. “The homeowners association here is small enough that you actually get to know everyone.”
There’s no better time to visit The Heritage at Vista Ridge
The Buckleys and Teegardens are representative of many of the residents at The Heritage at Vista Ridge, who appreciate the special combination of lifestyle, amenities and location. Dave Hildebrand, community sales manager, says first-time visitors are impressed with what the community offers. “We are down to the last remaining 12 or 13 homes here,” he says, “so now is a great time to see for yourself what sets us apart from other communities.
“We’re also offering a couple of great buyer incentives right now,” Hildebrand says. Through the end of April, home buyers at The Heritage will receive a full year of twicemonthly maid service. And buyers of select ranch homes will receive a two-year lease on a brand new Lexus RX400h hybrid SUV, the perfect complement to your energy-efficient,
Built Green home, and for getting out and enjoying the freedom of your new turn-key, lock-and-leave lifestyle.

At Blue Vista in Longmont, a special opportunity awaits qualifying buyers who are looking fora new home with great street appeal, Built Green construction and a desirable street address.
The community, located just minutes from highways 287, I-25 and the Diagonal (119), is surrounded by exceptional schools, recreational facilities and open space.
Four brand-new homes are ready for immediate move-in. Ranging from 1,088 to 2,000 square feet, each home features upgrades and innovative floor plans designed for comfort and style.
Nestled on pedestrian friendly narrow streets, adjacent to pocket parks, these homes have traditional front porches that invite casual conversations with friends and neighbors.
All homes at Blue Vista are designated Built Green and qualify as Energy Star homes. Low-E glazed windows and blown-in cellulose insulation make your home easy to heat and a breeze to cool. Two-by-six framing is standard, instead of the two-by-fours you’ll find elsewhere, creating sturdier, deeper walls that hold more insulation and are more soundproof.
The inside environment is protected by low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and finishes. Carpets are made of recycled materials, and are tacked down rather than glued, to help protect the quality of the air you breathe. Lighting fixtures use compact fluorescents bulbs and Energy Star appliances, chosen for their superior efficiency.
Each home is visited several times during construction by experts from EnergyLogic, an independent third-party company, to ensure that construction meets both Energy Star and Built Green standards.
“Every Blue Vista home comes with a comprehensive warranty,” says Summer Youngs, community sales manager. “You can buy with confidence at Blue Vista.”
